The selection and production of maize by the Austrian company SAATBAU LINZ has made huge leaps in recent years

In Bulgaria the brand is tested, represented and distributed by Leader Consulting EOOD

The most modern corn seed factory in Europe is located in Geinberg - Austria. Dozens of Bulgarian farmers had the opportunity to visit the factory and see its technical capabilities, quality control and huge capacity.

SAATBAU LINZ creates, produces and maintains a very diverse and wide portfolio of maize hybrids for all regions of Europe and for many directions of use. At the end of August 2018, a Bulgarian group was also invited to an international maize open day near the Schönering breeding station, where the different selection models and maize genotypes were shown, as well as the entire process from the beginning of selection to the finished product on the pallet.

"Good seed - good harvest" is the motto of SAATBA LINZ, it is their creed and founding principle for agricultural development.

In Bulgaria, the Austrian company is best known for its cereal varieties, as well as catch crops and legumes. But in the last 2 years, maize has emerged as an extremely successful segment in the portfolio, which Leader Consulting with the help of its colleagues from Austria has managed to select and distribute on the Bulgarian market.

When the weather conditions are unpredictable, when we expect drought and it rains, when the forecast is good throughout the country and several regions are cut off like a wall from the rest of the country's climate and droughts are an annual occurrence, then we are looking for one basic quality: STABILITY! Of course we have been talking for years about flexibility of hybrids, high yield potential, resistance to early frosts, drought and high temperatures, disease tolerance, etc., but the climate is changing on a global scale, and that makes it more unpredictable, so yield stability is increasingly important in breeding and gives farmers more certainty in unstable agro-meteorological conditions.

Maize in particular is a very unstable plant, strongly influenced by external factors such as rainfall and temperature. But with advances in genetics and proper selection, we can now point to hybrids that will remain permanently in our fields.

PERACINO - FAO 350 - a drought insurance, a great stress fighter, an extremely robust hybrid with very high fusarium tolerance - good to know for monoculture and no-till technologies.

ILLUSTRADO - FAO 370 - every investment pays off, high tech loves it, but poorer ones don't scare it away either. It competes only with the best of its and even later maturity groups.

AGROKING - FAO 490 - limitless potential for both grain and biomass. One of the benchmarks for biomass and biogas yields, but as Bulgaria has not yet had the opportunity for such measurements, its grain yields are the ones that go before its name. For irrigated conditions, by rivers, on deep soils - that's where it will be fully developed for grain. As a biomass it won't let you down wherever you are.

These are the hits of spring 2019, but let's also pay attention to two other hybrids that have established themselves since their appearance in 2016 as suitable for southern Bulgaria, for arid regions and for higher places - ARDENO - FAO 320 and ARVEDO - FAO 350.

And this year's advertising campaign of Leader Consulting passed under the sign of the iconic corn DANUBIO - FAO 270. This is a vitreous kernel, flint-type, special-purpose corn and IZI TANK PLEVEN EOOD makes the best of it: high-quality corn meal for export under the trademark GRISCO. This is exactly what the branded sachets for all the participants in the Leader Consulting seminars this winter contained - original, practical, healthy and delicious.

From now on, we will be hearing about other new SAATBAU LINZ offerings served in Bulgaria by Leader Consulting, and they will certainly all be at a very high level.

Agronomic consulting from Leader Consulting EOOD and a wide range of SAATBAU LINZ products - a combination for successful farming!
